What does it mean to take something personally? It means that someone does something and you think itâs about you.
You think they did something because of your own fault, because your own failure as a person. When you take things personally, youâre being a person. Youâre being an ego that has feelings that can be hurt.
Breathe in and notice what it feels like to take
something personally.
Breathe out and really feel that feeling. What is it like?
It feels like someone doesnât want to see you because they donât like you. Someone doesnât want to spend time with you because you did something wrong. What does it feel like to feel like itâs your fault that things are going wrong? What does it feel like to feel like someone doesnât like you? What does it feel like to feel like someone doesnât want to be around you because of who you are?
Breathe in and feel that suffering.
Breathe out and really identify that feeling of taking it
personally, of feeling like youâre not good enough.
Thatâs what itâs like, to take things personally. It feels like youâre not good enough, so people are treating you wrong. You donât deserve to be treated better, and so people donât want to be around you, or they want to be mean to you.
Breathe in and feel that feeling of not being good enough.
Breathe out and really feel it because weâre going to use it as an arrow pulling back, to transcend the false belief that you did something wrong!
